Why Nollywood Should Consider Reboots

Share

Over the past few years, Nollywood producers, writers, and directors have been doing some phenomenal things in the industry. It’s safe to say we are getting to new heights when making movies.

Nollywood at this point should put more effort into doing remakes of our old time classics; isakaba, osofia in London and others. While all these movies are exquisite in their time. Technology in cinematography has changed and evolved. There certainly won’t be any difficulty, it will even be a lot scarier and clearer than before. Remaking these movies will bring revenue to the industry at the same time let the spotlight be on us.

Sure there may be a few problems with the actors, seeing that Some of the veterans have passed away or are into other businesses. Imagine bringing them out of retirement for one last hurrah.

The fact also remains that if Nollywood producers decide to do a remake of the old time classics, it will show the current generation what we had enjoyed while we were younger and give the older ones something to smile about. The cinemas will be packed with all age grades, imagine the scary cult movies with more special effects. Or even Akin and Pawpaw doing cunning and hilarious things in clear 3D.

There is no doubt that Nollywood producers have the capacity to do remakes and revenue. I am left to wonder what is keeping them from doing it.

There is also the matter of preserving our old movies. Change is hard for most Nigerians, we love what we have the way it is. However, talking about these movies brings nostalgia; why not remake it so we can watch it repeatedly?
