Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Ajax star player Martinez and they have completed the signing of Christian Eriksen they have also agreed to a £63.5m deal with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong. The most important player they want is Frankie de Jong but the arrival of Martinez could stop the Dutchman from coming to United.
The Dutchman is known for his jersey number 21 and Martinez is also known for his number 21. Since the Argentine came before Frankie it is most likely that he will get jersey number 21 which may not go well with Frankie De Jong.
Frankie’s deal only got an edge after senior club figures traveled to Barcelona to try to push through a deal. They now know what they have to pay for manager Erik ten Hag’s key target, with the agreed deal equating to a bigger up-front payment and £8.5m in add-ons.
The contractual disagreement centers on deferred payments which have now been agreed on. There have been widespread reports in Spain that Barcelona has told De Jong he needs to leave for financial reasons.
However, the former Ajax player knows the Catalan must honor his contract if he chooses to remain at the Nou Camp and he is understood to be reluctant to leave without an agreement over his exit terms, which would take into account the deferred payments.
