Lai Mohammed, our beloveth Minister of Information and Culture, where art thou? An appointee of the All Presidential Progressives Congress, APC-led administration that is almost always on Television, organising Press Conferences to brief journalists on the latest development.
His presence on social media is beginning to decline, and even if there are numerous issues that require his very clever and technical response, the LaiMohammed we know seem not to be as aggressive as before in tackling controversial matters.
Latest on the Information Minister as at the time of filing this piece is a report published online on June 21, 2022, where he was seeking support for the establishment of creative industries to help address youth unemployment.
He was in Cairo, Egypt, as at the time, briefing journalists on the just-concluded Annual General Meeting of the Afreximbank, noting that the kind of support the youths deserve is in form of providing grants for the creative sector and building Creative Industry infrastructure such as event places, cinemas, internet connectivity, including cheap data, just to mention a few.
Before June 21, the information Minister was at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, that’s on June 16, after a Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting, responding to questions by news correspondents on Federal Government’s study of the judgment on Malabu oil deal.
Despite all of these conferences and international visits, it still doesn’t feel the same as before when the Minister trended on every page of different mainstream Newspapers, Television and Radio Stations, Social Media platforms.
Do you miss Lai Mohammed, be honest?
