Weight gain and Obesity have in recent years been on the increase. Studies show that the timing of meals have a great impact on weight gain.
Although meal timing cannot be said to be the only reason for weight gain. Factors like inadequate sleeping time and soda consumption have also been found to have impact it too over time.
An 18 week study carried out to monitor the impact of meal timing on adults. At the end of the period, adults with late-day eating habits showed slower metabolism, increase in insulin and cholesterol level than the earlier eaters did not. “Late-day eating was also associated with metabolizing fewer lipids and more carbs” Namni Goel, PhD, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
It is a known fact that meal timing affects weight loss. However, meal times also affect sleep. People who have reasons to eat late have also proven to have sleeping issues too. People suffering from insomnia are often most affected by the consequences of late day eating.
If you have plans of maintaining your weight or losing some then you should plan your meals between 7am and 7pm daily. Eating beyond these hours might not let you achieve the goal of weight loss.
