Women Crush Wednesday is all about the social media posts on Wednesdays to appreciate and admire women found worthy. This trend started on Twitter but it is now being used on all other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and so on with the hashtag #WCW trending worldwide. Women surely make the world thick, especially those ones who are on fleek.

The #WCW for today is a Nigerian politician, Amina Jane Mohammed. She is not only known in Nigeria but worldwide. After a stint in the Nigerian private sector, Amina has gone on to work successively with three Nigerian Presidents in different portfolios. The light-skinned and beautiful mother is all you would cherish in this modern age. She is brilliant, stylish and powerful as one of the high ranking members of the United Nations.

  1. Amina Jane Mohammed was born in Liverpool, the U.K on June 27, 1961
  2. Amina is the eldest of five daughters of his parents. Her father, a Nigerian herdsman and a vet, met her British mother, a nurse while studying in Britain.
  3. Amina attended primary school in Nigeria; both in Kaduna and Maiduguri. She also attended Buchan School in the UK and the Henley Management College in 1989. She is now an adjunct professor in Development Practice at Columbia University.
  4. She has also lived in Chad and Italy. Sometimes ago, she visited Lake Chad which was a concern for climate change. In her words during her visit, she said the Lake had reduced tenth it’s former size when she lived in the area.
  5. She has served on numerous international advisory boards and panels which includes the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Post 2015 Development Agenda and the Independent Expert Advisory Group on the Data Revolution for Sustainable Development.
  6. She has also chaired the Advisory Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as well as the Global Monitoring Report on Education (GME).
  7. Amina Mohammed was once an advisor to former UN secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, on the post-2015 development agenda before becoming the UN’s deputy secretary-general in 2017. A post she held till now.
  8. The former Federal Minister of the Environment of Nigeria is a recipient of many awards which includes the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), Nigerian Women’s Hall of Fame, Diplomat of the Year Award, Sarraounia chieftaincy title of Niger Republic, BBC 100 Women and many more.
  9. Amina whose parents had five children also have six children.
  10. The current UN deputy secretary-general to Antonio Guterres is fluent and eloquent in languages including her native Hausa.
