Super Eagles of Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has completed his move to Sky Bet Championship club Watford on a five-year contract. William Troost-Ekong linked up with the Hornets from Serie A club Udinese and he will be the third Nigerian to play for the English topside after Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success.

The centre-back spent the past two years in Italian Seria A side Udinese where he played 66 games since his arrival from Turkish Süper Lig outfit Bursaspor in 2018. He was born in the Netherlands, he began his senior career in the Eredivisie with Groningen and Dordrecht before spells in Belgium and Norway, with Gent and Haugesund respectively.

He was with the Netherlands youth team but made his senior international debut for Nigeria in 2015 and has since proven himself to be an important part of the Super Eagles’ defence. He scored the winner for Nigeria against South Africa in the 2-1 win in the last Afcon tournament which Nigeria came third.
