Watford suffered the worst defeat of the season on Saturday when they traveled to the Etihad Stadium. The Hornets faced the full wrath of Manchester City as they conceived five goals before 20 minutes into the game. The Citizens has bounced back after their last lost to Norwich and looks ready for third consecutive Premiership glory.
The captain of the City team, David Silva opened the scoring 52 seconds in the game. Argentine Sergio Aguero completed his 100th premier league from the penalty spot six minutes after the first goal. The goals kept coming as Algerian Riyad Mahrez’s freekick was deflected into the back of the net in the 12th minute of the game. Bernardo Silva and Nicolas Otamendi registered their names to give Pep Guardiola’s side a comfortable first-half win with five goals.
Manchester City has now scored five goals faster than any other side in the English Premier League history. Bernardo Silva netted his second of the day to make it six on the scoreboard. He completed his hat-trick with the seventh goal of the day before Kelvin De Bruyne rounded up the scoring. City moved two points closer to League leaders Liverpool while Watford remains at the bottom foot of the table.
Watford Record with Man. City in Six Months
Watford registered their worst result in English football with 8-0 defeat to Manchester City. The last time they conceived six goals was in the FA final and it was against City. It is a bad start for the new Watford coach Sanchez Flores after his remarkable come back against Arsenal last week. The Hornets have played six matches without a win and this is their worst start in the EPL.
Watford goalie Ben Foster said as visitors to the Etihad Stadium it would have been wise to have left the scoreline at one or two goals. They were incredible, relentless and scary. We could see them opening up the defense but we could not help it and we were lucky it was not double digits. The Hornets has now conceived 14 goals in the hands of Manchester City in the space of six months.
City Coach on Team Scoring Many Goals
Pep Guardiola has come out to say “the best way to play footballs to win. It does not matter how many goals you score the most important thing is the three–point”. He also said after their last lost to Norwich the fans needed an assuring response. Now can we say Norwich is the cause of the humiliation for winning Manchester City last week? City fans no doubt has been assured I believe.
