War of Words: Arewa vs IPOB over Sit-at-Home Order

Share

War of words ensues from the sit-at-home order instigated by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and it seems their counterparts, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, is not having the idea sold to other parts of the country.

Yesterday, the northern youth group, in a counter-response to the IPOB leaders, charged the northern Governors to seal up the shops of those who comply with the order.

Recall that the self-proclaimed Biafrans, following the message of solidarity among members, are expected to shut down their businesses across the nation, especially as Nnamdi Kanu, the group leader, is still in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

According to the National President of AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, he said that the move by the Biafrans to engage other parts of the nation like people of the Middle-Belt Region is unacceptable.

He sounded a stern warning to all concerned parties in the North to desist from joining in the directive issued people of Biafra, stating that the call is a ‘deliberate politically-motivated plan to undermine or worsen the nation’s current security challenges.’

The AYCF said the North had come a long way in understanding the use of constitutional and democratic means of channelling legitimate grievances, adding that it cannot be a party to any undemocratic move.

War of Words

In a sarcastic remark, the northern youth president stated that whilst the Governors of the South-East might not perceive the activities of IPOB disturbing, it is in their discretion to observe “the sit-at-home order for another ten years, and we wish them the very best of luck.

“We know the South East is IPOB’s home, but exporting their activities to the North will be faced with massive resistance from all lovers of peace in the North.” He added.
