WAEC Exams Hold In Chibok, 6 Years After Abduction Of Over 200 Schoolgirls

For the first time after over six and half years since the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls, the final year students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, are writing the 2020 WAEC Examinations.

Confirming the development, Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media on Friday said the former girls’ only school is now mixed.

Also, the acting general officer commanding (GOC), 7 division who was represented by Ifeanyi Otu, chief of staff of the division confirmed the reopening of schools in Chibok local government.

He stated that WAEC successfully held WASSCE in Chibok for the first time in the past six years with the military providing security.

According to him, the chief of army staff has been making deliberate efforts through the education corps to post teachers to all schools within the north-east states.

Ifeanyi added that the Nigerian Military was committed to ensuring that education is resuscitated in the troubled zone.

You will recall that the Federal Government had announced the decision to close down schools in the area after Boko Haram insurgents abducted over 200 schoolgirls on April 14, 2014.
