Victor Osimhen, the star man in the 1-1 draw with Cape Verde, has come out to praise his Super Eagles teammates after their hard-fought. The Super Eagles were able to make it through to the playoff of the 2022 World Cup as they topped Group C with 13 points.
The Eagles advanced into the playoff round following the draw against the Blue Sharks at the Teslim Balogun stadium. Victor Osimhen gave the Eagles the perfect start just one minute into the game before the visitors equalised through Stopira from a corner kick.
The Cape Verdeans poured forward in search of the second goal but couldn’t break down a resolute Eagles backline. Reacting to the qualification, Osimhen also hailed the Cape Verdeans for putting up a good fight.
The Napoli striker took to his Twitter account and tweeted: “Strong character from the boys, respect to the Cape Verdean team. Unto the playoff now!”
