The vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo during the unveiling of the PricewaterhouseCoopers` Innovation Experience Centre yesterday being Wednesday, 19th June 2019, said that the growth of the Nigerian economy cannot be based on oil and gas industry alone, but can mostly be driven by technology. Adding that part of the current administration`s plan is to reduce the numerous bottleneck faced in doing business and transforming the economy by increasing awareness in the use of technology
In his speech which was made by his representative, Mr. Ben Akabueze, the Director General of the Budget office, he stated that “the Pricewaterhouse Coopers` Innovation Centre is in line with the smart technology initiative of the present administration. The present government recognizes that Nigeria`s future is not based in oil and gas, but largely rest more in technology and innovation.” He added that “The initiative is designed on moving the Nigeria Economy to a people-based model from a resource-based model. He concluded by saying that, Nigerians must take this seriously, moving forward.

Moving on, the event was graced with dignitaries from different sectors of the economy,
including the partners and experience Center Leaders, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu; The Zenith Bank Chairman, Jim Ovia; the Regional Senior Partner, Femi Osinubi, PwC West Africa, Uyi Akpata who among the different guest that spoke at the event, encouraged the corporate community to take grab the Smart technology opportunity with both hands so as to help transform the country`s future and rapidly grow the economy
Furthermore, Jim Ovia who was the chairman of the occasion added that “Nigeria business has the possibility of tripling its growth rate and incomes via technology and innovations. He continued by saying that “the Pricewaterhouse Coopers center is the first of its kind by a professional service firm in West Africa joins research, creativity, technical know-how and other technics in finding lasting solution to problems, which are geared towards fully transforming business models, creating new ecosystems, et cetera and concluded that the use of the latest invented technologies is vital to the overall designing process.
