Value Added Tax, VAT revenue control is still making the rounds as the Oyo State Government has joined in the race to stake claims to the state’s rightful belongings.
The Government followed the steps of its counterpart in Rivers State, tagging along in the ongoing legal dispute regarding the tax collection rights.
This request is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, on Tuesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.
VAT Collection: Oyo Govt Follows Suit Against AGF
There’s currently a suit that the Rivers State Government initiated against the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami, in respect of the bid by the state to take over the collection of VAT from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.
In an Agency report accessed yesterday, professor Oyelowo Oyewo, the Attorney-General of Oyo State, the actual institutor of the suit, requested the Appellate Court’s order to grant Oyo affiliation status in the pending case to enable the state to express its interest legally.
