The Nigeria Police has denied arresting and detaining Seyitan Babatayo, the lady who accused Nigerian singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, also known as Dbanj of raping her at a hotel room in 2018.
According to a police source, Seyitan was only invited to give her written statement and be interrogated.
The source revealed that both the singer and accuser were invited to the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Abuja.
But on three separate occasions, Seyitan didn’t show up, which prompted the Force CID to dispatch officers to Lagos to invite her for her written statement and interrogation on the alleged rape.
You will recall that Seyitan had on Wednesday, June 24 disclosed that Dbanj asked her to describe the allegations as a publicity stunt.
Seyitan, who was reportedly picked up by the police on June 16, 2020, revealed that she was detained in a police cell like a criminal adding that she was later released to the custody of Dbanj and his team.
She also disclosed that four armed policemen stormed her apartment and arrested her without a warrant on June 16, 2020, noting that her phones were seized before she was detained in the police cell overnight.
The rape allegations all started on Twitter when Seyitan accused Dbanj of raping her in her room in Glee Hotel sometimes in December 2018.
However, the singer had denied the allegations as he also demanded a public apology and 100 million naira from his accuser.
