According to reports, Nigeria and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has undergone a successful operation on the quadriceps in his left leg. The club confirmed the information through a statement posted on their official website on Monday morning.
Samuel Chukwueze Undergoes a Successful Surgery
The 22-year-old Super Eagles star picked up the injury in his side’s Europa League second leg semi-final clash against English Premier side Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium early this month. The Nigerian could not play their final game against Manchester United, although they won the game.
They played out a 1-1 draw after full time and added time and went into a penalty shoot-out which ended in their favour. Samuel Chukwueze’s Yellow Submarine won 11-10 as Manchester United keeper David De Gea had his penalty saved by Villareal.
Villareal made it known on the statement saying: “Villarreal footballer Samu Chukwueze has undergone surgery on his quadriceps in his left leg.” The player was operated on at the Hospital Quirónsalud in Barcelona. The Liverpool and Manchester United target is recovering fast but will not make it to the Super Eagles friendly match against Cameroon, which comes up later in June.
