Manchester United lost again to West Ham on Sunday in their 6th Premier League game. It seems like cohesion is coming after a clean sheet at home to Leicester, but it is a very different story away from Old Trafford. United record their worst run in 17 years, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 11 games.
Everything now seems to be wrong with Manchester United, even after the record signing Harry Maguire United still look slothful in the defense line.
When the pace of his team’s play was questioned in the press conference, Ole Gunner Solskjaer said there was no sense to question United’s pace with James and Rashford upfront. But it is obvious now that football is more than just pace as it is one thing to move the team with pace and another to move with purpose.
West Ham was totally in charge as they outplayed United. Andriy Yarmolenko beat Harry Maguire with his first touch and David de Gea with his second. Aaron Cresswell’s brilliant free-kick sealed their third league win of the season. The Hammers did well to cub the United attack, not allowing them to get into their defense easily.
Roy Keane on Manchester United
Former Manchester United player and legend Roy Keane expressed his disappointment with the team. He said: “I don’t know where to start from. I was shocked and saddened by how bad they were”. “Losing a game in football is normal everything about the United team is wrong, they were no zeal in the game. The boys lack passion, leadership, and character. It is a pity to see how United have fallen”, he added.
Mourinho on Manchester United
Roy Keane speaking about Ole he said: “I know Ole, he is fuming, disgusted and angry”. Former Manchester United boss, Mourinho, had said he has nothing positive to say about the team. He admitted his tenure was bad but he said they were not this bad and there is no improvement in any way since he left the team. Mourinho said he would have done better with three new signings (Harry Maguire, Daniel Jame, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka).
The defense was too passive, too slow to close down West Ham in the build-up to the opener. Solskjaer did his best to put positive vibes in the team but all to no avail. He also pointed out that the London Stadium is “always a difficult ground to go to”, and even his predecessor Jose Mourinho lost there too.
Another Injury Blow to Manchester United
The worst is yet to come as Rashford now joins the injury list. He sustained a groin injury, joining Anthony Martial on the injury list. By the end, United’s forward line included Angel Gomes and Jesse Lingard. The squad looks well short.
Ole will be hosting North London side Arsenal on Monday next week. The team needs an urgent come back if they still want to be title contenders.
