UNILAG Gets New Acting VC

The University of Lagos, UNILAG Senate has announced the appointment of Professor Folasade Ogunsola as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Earlier, the recently appointed acting vice-chancellor, Prof Omololu Soyombo, has announced his decision to step down following the Federal Government’s directive that the University of Lagos Senate should nominate an acting vice-chancellor.

In a statement, Soyombo explained that he needed to step down given the directive from the federal government.

Meanwhile, he urged all the staff members and students of the institution to continue to go about their business peacefully.

You will recall that the governing council, led by pro-chancellor, Dr Wale Babalakin, had appointed Soyombo ten days ago after it sacked Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
