Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that Russia has targeted Ukraine’s military infrastructure, stressing that the citizens can hear the explosions in various parts of the country.

He stated that his conversation with the United States President, Joe Biden and the U.S. was rallying international support for Ukraine, urging Ukrainians to stay home and not panic.

On his part, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, described the action as a “full-scale invasion of Ukraine” and a “war of aggression,” adding, “Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now.”

Meanwhile, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, said on Facebook that the Russian military ruthlessly launched missile strikes on Ukrainian military command facilities, airbases and military depots in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro.

Immediately after the initial explosions in Kyiv, people could be heard shouting in the streets. Also, several videos are circulating on the world wide web showing Ukrainian citizens attempting to leave the country.

On the other hand, the Russian military said it has struck Ukrainian air bases and other military assets and hasn’t targeted populated areas.

Their Defence Ministry statement said the military is using precision weapons to target Ukrainian air bases, air defence assets and other military infrastructure. It claimed that “there is no threat to the civilian population.”
