The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi has revealed the arrest of two individuals over the case of a 22-year-old Ayanwole Oluwabamise who went missing after boarding the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
Oluwabamise, a fashion designer was said to have gone missing on February 26 around 7 pm after boarding a BRT from Chevron Bus Stop, Lekki, to Oshodi.
Reports suggest that Oluwabamise sent distress messages to her friend when she felt uncomfortable in the vehicle as a result of the driver’s conduct.
The friend revealed that Oluwabamise informed her to pray for her, and sent the vehicle details in case anything happened to her.
Police Reveals BRT Driver’s Identity
According to the Commissioner of Police, two suspects are in custody and are providing useful information to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.
Alabi during a media interview said, “This case is delicate and we are being careful to avoid jeopardising the investigation.
“The young girl is yet to be found. The suspect too disappeared almost the same time. So, releasing the names of those in custody or giving certain details could tip him off or even put the victim in more danger.”
Alabi described the now eloped driver as “Suspect, who hails from Moba Local Government Area in Ekiti State, is about 5 feet plus tall, dark in complexion and speaks Yoruba and English languages well.”
