Twitter Management has given its opinion on Nigeria lifting the ban on their Micro-Blogging platform for the past two-hundred and twenty days.
Yesterday, the social media organisation tweeted through its @Policy Handle, noting that they are pleased that Nigeria has decided to restore the blogging site for its citizens.
They hinted that it is their mandate in the country and other parts worldwide to foster various public conversations.
Also, the Management stressed that they are deeply committed to the country, adding that people use Twitter for commerce, cultural engagement, and civic participation.
Twitter’s Message in Bits
“It’s a delight that their micro-blogging site is now available for use in Nigeria.” The Management posted.
However, on Wednesday, the decision to reverse the ban was confirmed by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement & Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA.
According to the statement he issued, the consent to approve the use of the social media platform followed a memo forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim, on the agreement reached.
