Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has urged the club to sign Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski as Romelu Lukaku’s replacement this summer but the club owner has said they can’t sign any player now to avoid sanctions from Uefa as it will be against financial fair play rule. Lukaku is eager to return to Italian top side Inter Milan after one season back at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel Wants Lewandowski or Nkuku to Replace Lukaku

The Belgium international struggled last season at Chelsea, scoring just eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances. Talks between Chelsea’s new co-owner Todd Boehly and Inter took place this week, with the west London outfit signaling their willingness to allow Lukaku to leave. While terms of the deal are still being discussed, Chelsea is now looking to bring in another striker to spearhead their attack next season.

According to reports, Chelsea manager Tuchel has encouraged Chelsea to join the race to sign Lewandowski, who is pushing to leave Bayern Munich this summer after failing to agree to a new contract with the Bundesliga champion. The manager is convinced the 34- year-old Poland international will do well in the Premier League. Chelsea will face competition from Barcelona, who are interested in signing Lewandowski.

The Blues, however, have other targets on their radar, including RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku
