Arturo Vidal Slams Barcelona Board

Chile international and former Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has come out to slam Barcelona board, the player is the latest player to have hit out at the club as the internal crisis still continues. In a YouTube chat, Vidal lamented that the club has just 13 professionals and cannot win laurels with that, he also said the Catalan giants’ first-team are relying too heavily on Lionel Messi.

Barcelona ended the La Liga season as runners up as Real Madrid won the title and they failed to impress against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League, they lose woefully against the German side. Bayern Munich won them 8-2 and since then the club has been shaking as Lionel said he is no longer interested in playing for the club.

New manager Ronald Koeman has been told to ensure the club’s wage bill reduces and crucial players like Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic have been told to leave. Arturo Vidal slammed the idea saying the club needs to get ready-made players now rather than relying too much on their academy players.

Vidal speaking to Daniel Habif’s YouTube channel said: “Barcelona have to change their way of thinking. Football has moved on a lot and the [whole] DNA [thing] is being left behind because other teams are improving in other aspects: football at the moment is more physical, more dependent on power and speed and the technical side is sometimes less important.”

“The last three years are not what a team like Barcelona deserves. The best team in the world cannot have 13 professional players. You cannot always win with DNA.’ Barca are famous for producing world-class talent at their La Masia academy with the likes of Messi, Gerard Pique and further back Xavi and Andres Iniesta graduating.
