Reactions have trailed the latest trending Nollywood movie on Netflix, Anikulapo, after it was rejected for Oscars Award.
The movie, which got so many social media followers talking, tells the story of Saro, a zealous traveller seeking greener pasture in the native Oyo Kingdom.
However, circumstances and his affair with the Alaafin’s wife led to his untimely death; an encounter with a mystical bird gave him another shot at life with the power to achieve the unimaginable.
In a recent development, the producer of the movie, Kunle Afolayan, reacted to the decision of the Nigeria Oscar Selection Committee not to consider his latest movie for an award.
He wrote on his social media handle, “I am so pleased and delighted that the whole world have decided to tagged ANIKULAPO film “a masterpiece “ even though the Nigeria Oscar selection committee think it’s not worth submitting for the Oscars.”
The 48-year-old filmmaker promises to continue giving his best to his followers despite the setback.
Aniklulapo will be the first movie shot in the newly built ‘Kunle Afolayan Film Village’ in the heart of Oyo state.
