Nigeria’s Transport Minister, Dr Rotimi Amaechi, and his counterpart from the Ministry of Justice, Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Abubakar Malami, will be meeting at the Abuja Federal High Court to answer questions on how they issued out contracts worth billions unlawfully.

It was gathered that the duo gave out a rail line construction contract to a Chinese firm known as China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, without following the standard procedures as the law demands.

However, the Chinese firm was also sued in the case that involves a contract for a 190lm rain line construct, as the Plaintiffs in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1426/2021 Duluidas Nigeria Limited, Duliz Dredging and Construction Limited and Consortium of Duluidas Nigeria Limited, Duliz dredging and Construction Limited/Hebbelyixin Fastener Company Limited, China.

The plaintiffs clearly stated that both the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF Malami, and the Minister of Transportation, Amaechi, plus the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP, all tied in the illicit arrangement, placed a letter of ‘No Objection’ in favour of CCECC for the award of the over ninety-one billion naira (N91.5bn) rail line contract in breach of procurement laws and re-issue same in their favour.

The plaintiffs’ lead counsel, summons James Okoh, issued a writ of the plaintiff, asking the Federal High Court to cancel the letter of no objection placed by the accused to block any protest by the aggrieved parties.
