In today’s transfer gossip Arsenal is set to offer Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new contract worth about £250,000 a week plus bonuses as they try to convince the 31-year-old to stay in the club. Arsenal is considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, 22, but Manchester City could trigger a buy-back clause for the Brazil international. 

Newcastle is planning to approach Real Madrid with a loan offer for 22-year-old Serbia forward Luka Jovic, with the club’s scouts working under the assumption that the proposed Saudi Arabi-backed takeover will not happen. Alternatively, the Magpies will attempt to sign English forward Callum Wilson, 28, from Bournemouth if the Cherries are relegated. 

Borussia Dortmund has looked at Werder Bremen’s Kosovo winger Milot Rashica, 24, as a potential replacement for 20-year-old England forward Jadon Sancho, who is likely joining Manchester United when the transfer window opens according to Thursday transfer gossip.

Leeds United, newly promoted to the Premier League, could move for 38-year-old Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has admitted he is unlikely to extend his deal with AC Milan. The newly-promoted English side is also targeting QPR’s £20m-rated English forward Eberechi Eze, 22, as a signing to bolster their squad for the Premier League. 

Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Willian, 32, is close to agreeing on a free transfer to Arsenal as his contract runs down at the Blues. Valencia is planning moves for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, 25, and Manchester City’s 34-year-old midfielder and fellow Spaniard David Silva.

English midfielder Adam Lallana, 32, could agree on a deal to return to former club Southampton after his contract expired at Liverpool. Also in the transfer gossip today, Everton will try to move on DR Congo forward 31-year-old Yannick Bolasie, who is in the final 12 months of his contract, to free up money to pursue a new right-winger. 

Tottenham Hotspur is confident they will sign 24-year-old Southampton and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, even though Everton have had a bid of £25m accepted. Meanwhile, English defender Japhet Tanganga, 21, is close to signing a new contract with SpursManchester City is keen to sign AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, but face competition from Paris St-Germain with the 22-year-old Algerian’s fee set to exceed £45m.

Aston Villa has lined up Reading’s John Swift, 25, as a replacement for 24-year-old fellow English midfielder Jack Grealish, who has been linked with an £80m move to Manchester United. Sheffield United are also interested in Swift. 

Also in the transfer gossip, 24-year-old Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has urged Austria defender David Alaba, 28, to stay rather than move to the Germany international’s former club Manchester City or La Liga giants Real Madrid. Bayer Leverkusen may pursue a loan deal for Real Madrid’s Brazil Under-23 midfielder Reinier, 18, if Germany forward Kai Havertz, 21, leaves for Chelsea.
