Toyin Denies Replacing Akindele As NCDC Ambassador

Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from news making the rounds that she was named to replace another actress, Funke Akindele as the ambassador for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

In a post on her official Twitter handle, the mother of one noted that her attention had been drawn to the news about the NCDC ambassador deal involving Funke, whom she described as a senior colleague.

The tweet reads “It has just been brought to my attention that blogs are reporting that I am now NCDC ambassador. 

Implying that I have been used to replace a senior colleague. That line of thought necessitates I put this out there. I am not an ambassador to NCDC. I do not like the narrative

She further expressed her commitment to the campaign against Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic. 

She clarified that she has no intention to take advantage of the happenings involving Funke Akindele and her husband, JJ Skills.

There were speculations that Toyin replaced Funke after a campaign by the NCDC featured the former in which she educates the public on how to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In the video, Abraham employs the use of Yoruba language to enlighten the public.

Before the party which led to Funke’s arraignment, She appeared in a campaign by Dettol in conjunction with the NCDC to educate Nigerians on how to protect themselves and stop the spread of coronavirus.

Following the incident, Dettol Nigeria released an official statement via its Twitter page, noting that it “does not condone any breach of the guidelines on COVID-19.”

The NCDC, in its response, quoted Dettol Nigeria’s tweet and stated that it had not engaged brand ambassadors as part of its approach against coronavirus.

Akindele was arraigned in court along with her husband, JJC Skillz and other attendees of the occasion. 

She was sentenced to 14-day community service along with a 100,000 Naira fine for violating the Federal government’s ban on social gatherings.
