It was a terrible afternoon for the Tottenham side; they have conceded ten goals in the space of five days. They traveled to Brighton in the first EPL game of matchday 8 to rekindle the fire quenched by Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Spurs Team is Sick
The home side seemed very prepared as goals from N. Maupay (3) A. Connolly’s brace threw the Spurs in a deeper mess. Mauro Pochetino is no doubt short of words to explain the recent challenges his team is going through.
Aaron Connolly scored twice and Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris suffered a serious arm injury through an error in the early minutes of the game. Lloris went to catch a square play and mistakenly lost grip of the ball and fall using his arm which resulted in the first goal. Tottenham lost 3-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion to cap a devastating week.
Champions League Shock
They were humiliated 7-2 in Champions League by Bayern Munich in midweek, Spurs needed a response to ward off rumors of disharmony but encountered only more pain at the Amex Stadium on Saturday. So may they are still suffering from that shock.
Lloris bore the worst of it, the captain left in agony and taken from the field on a stretcher following a lengthy delay after landing awkwardly on his left arm in an incident that gifted the hosts a third-minute lead.
The goalkeeper dropped a routine Pascal Gross cross, stumbled backward and was in too much pain to keep Neal Maupay from nodding home the first goal at a very close range.
Man of The Match
Connolly doubled the lead in the 19th minute to put Brighton ahead in the first half. He scored his brace in the 65th minute which ensured his sides first win over Tottenham since 1983. He was named the Match.
Spurs have now lost twice in the 2019/20 EPL Season. They lost to Newcastle United and now Brighton. Brighton is 8 on the league table with 9 points.
