Today’s match between Atlético Madrid and Valencia will be FC Barcelona’s first chance to be Spanish La-Liga champion. After yesterday’s Barcelona 2-0 away win at Alavés.
Carles Aleñá’s opener and Luis Suárez’s spot-kick were enough to earn all three points against Alavés and leave Barça just three points away from the League title.
Furthermore, Ernesto Valverde’s team are a step closer to becoming the league winner. Barça could be league champions today if Atlético Madrid lose at home in the Wanda Metropolitano to Valencia. The blaugranes would be 12 point ahead with four games remaining but their head to head advantage record against Diego Simeone’s would see them logically 2018/19 league champions. If Atlético Madrid match with Valencia ends with a draw all Atletico winning the game, then Barça will have to wait until Saturday to have a chance to claim the title.
However, if the chance lingers till Saturday. Diego Simeone’s side will be playing first at home to Valladolid. While Barcelona will be playing later at night same day and at home against Levante.
AS IT STANDS
- In case where Atlético win against Valencia and draw Valladolid then Barcelona would need just a draw against Levante to be the La-Liga champions.
- If Atlético draw against Valencia and then loses against Valladolid then Barcelona would be champions before kicking a ball at the weekend.
- If Atlético win against both Valencia and Valladolid then Barcelona must have to win the match against Levante to be champions.
