Thiago Alcantara Eyes Possible EPL Move
Following the failure of singing Timo Werner from Leipzig Liverpool have shifted their interest to Spanish and Bayern Munich 29-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara. Thiago Alcantara has held talks with Bayern Munich over a new contract with his current deal due to expire in 2021.
Both the player and the Bayern Munich appear to have reached an agreement until the attacking midfielder had second thoughts about penning a new contract. Reports from Germany now claims the player is eyeing a sensational switch to Liverpool, The Reads had earlier said they will sign the player with a signing fee of around £43 million.
It’s believed Bayern Munich discussed Liverpool’s interest during talks with the Spanish international keen on a switch to the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp spoke about Thiago after Liverpool played Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season, and he said: “I’ve probably never seen them defend like that,” he said.
“Respect to them as they made it difficult for us, although we had good situations where we missed the last touch. “Thiago is a world-class footballer. He played that deep-lying playmaker role very well. Alongside [Javi] Martinez, they were very good.” Alcantara had earlier said in his tweeter handle that only one person can influence his move to his former side Barcelona and that player is Lionel Messi but since Messi is not saying anything now, the Liverpool move could just be the perfect move.
Liverpool is looking to bolster their squad when the transfer window reopens and the club is not going to make the same mistake they made with Timo Werner, who joined Chelsea ahead of the 2020/21 season.
