Tems and Burna Boy Set New Record as Africa’s Biggest Billboard Chart Forces

Nigeria’s global music dominance has taken another leap forward as two of its biggest stars, Tems and Burna Boy, have officially become the African artistes with the highest number of entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart a milestone that further cements Africa’s growing influence on the global music stage.

The achievement follows fresh chart appearances credited to both singers through collaborations on J. Cole’s album The Fall-Off, which produced new Billboard Hot 100 entries this week. Their latest appearances push each artiste’s total to eight entries, moving them ahead of South African rock band Seether, with whom they were previously tied at seven.

One of the new charting songs, Bounce Road Blues, featuring Tems alongside Future, debuted at number 34. Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s collaboration on Only You entered the chart at number 78, collectively securing the new record for the Nigerian stars.

Tems’ recent success reflects a particularly strong year for the singer. Alongside the new entry, she has also appeared on the chart in 2026 with Raindance a collaboration with British rapper Dave as well as her solo track What You Need. These releases give her the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries by any African artist so far this year.

Burna Boy, on the other hand, has achieved a different kind of milestone. With his latest appearance, he becomes the first African artiste to have at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years. His chart history includes titles such as Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and now Only You (2026).

Industry observers view the achievement as further evidence of Afrobeats’ expanding global reach, with Nigerian artists increasingly shaping mainstream international music trends. As chart success continues to build, both Tems and Burna Boy appear poised to extend Africa’s growing presence on one of the world’s most influential music charts.
