Teenager goes to court over death threats

A teenager has been charged to court for threatening to kill his mother and neighbour in Zuba, FCT. the 17-year-old appeared before the Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja after he reportedly threatened his mother and his neighbour.

Adefioye Mayowa, the prosecution counsel presented the case before the court saying that the complainant, Akinyemi Rotimi had reported the case to officers of the Zuba Police Station FCT-Abuja days ago on the 11th of October, 2020, alleging that the boy made his claims at about 7 am that day.

The complainant, Mr Mayowa said that the teenage boy had issues with his mother that morning and when Mayowa tried to proffer a peaceful solution to their issue, the boy threatened to kill both the complainant and his wife, who happens to be a neighbour.

Mayowa says that the suspect’s mother suffered fears from the threat and he suspects the boy is a member of the cult and asked that he be charged in accordance with the penal code.

After weighing the case, Alhaji Gambo Garba, the presiding judge, granted the defendant bail to the same of N100,000 and a surety who must have a legitimate means of livelihood and must reside within the court’s jurisdictionwhich is Abuja.

Judge Garba adjourned the case to the 19th of November, 2020.
