Tanker Explosion Claims Several Lives In Abuja

An oil tanker explosion has claimed about eleven lives in the Gawu area of Abaji Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Three Almajiris were among the explosion victims when a tanker was trying to avoid colliding with a truck.

Meanwhile, some residents of the area reportedly came out with jerry cans and buckets to loot after noticing that the oil was leaking from the tanker.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the leaking fuel eventually caught fire and killed three Almajirai and eight others.

Reacting, the Federal Road Safety Commission’s, FRSC commandant in Abuja, Wobin Gora, who confirmed the incident said 11 people were burnt to death, while ten others sustained injuries.

According to Gora, eight men and two women who sustained burns have been rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
