Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has been listed in Chelsea’s squad for Wednesday’s Super Cup meeting with Villarreal despite being heavily linked with a £34m move to Roma. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel refused to comment on the striker’s future or the arrival of former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku.
Tammy Abraham to Play Super Cup with Cup
According to the head coach, he said: “Like with players coming in as well, I will not comment on actual situations of players going out.” “Tammy is in the squad. He did some good preparation matches, clearly not happy with the last half of the year and had a reason. Maybe it was also my fault not to push him and trust him on the level as other players – and he wants minutes.”
Tuchel also said: “Does he fight his way back into the team where he ended last season, or does he want to change the club to be a regular starter? “I can understand that. It is a normal situation until the transfer window is closed. We will evaluate the situation.”
23-year-old Tammy Abraham fell out of favour with the manager, so he had no playing time. He played on 22 games and started just 12 for Chelsea last of which of the games he played was under Frank Lampard. The England international was not in the Champions League final squad as well. Tammy Abraham was listed in the travelling team. This could be his chance to prove himself to the head coach.
