Suspected Bandits Invade Abuja University, Take 6 Hostages

Abuja University Staff Quarters situated in the Giri Area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, was invaded today by persons suspected to be bandits.

The unknown men paid an unlikely visit to the residential academic premises scooping six unsuspecting workers now hostages in the hands of the attackers.

Reports claim that the abducted workers were fast asleep when the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 2, 2021.

FCT Police Confirms Abuja University Attack

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command confirmed the security breach through a statement issued for the FCT Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday.

The statement made public by Josephine Ade, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, tried reassuring residents of Abuja that they had restored normalcy and that officers would guarantee the safety of life and property.

Babaji said they’ve dispatched additional tactical and conventional policing resources to the university’s main and satellite campuses and the university’s staff quarters and other affiliate formations to fortify security, improve public safety, and protect citizens in and around the university community.

In the latest developments, the identities of those that were abducted during the raid are Professor Obansa and his son; Professor Oboscolo, his son and daughters, as well as Dr Tobins.
