Banky W, whose full name is Olubankole Wellington, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that was initially declared winner of the party’s primaries and handed over the ticket to represent, was suddenly denied victory moments later.
One Activist that doubles as the Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, later took to his social media account to air his displeasure with the party for cleverly manipulating the process and denying Banky W the PDP ticket as its House of Representatives candidate in the upcoming 2023 elections.
Expressing bitterness, Adeyanju tweeted that, “PDP is cursed. Banky W didn’t get the ticket according to their latest evil scheme, all they care about is dollars…Kai, I’m sincerely tired of this country. We are in serious mess. The generation of our children are in trouble.”
While it may still sound unbelievable in the ears of many of his supporters, the sketchy details has been clarified regarding the fate of the loved politician as another party Candidate had been declared winner of the primary election.
Also lending his voice to the sad incident, Nollywood Actor, Yul Edochie, also posted on his social media platform to express how damaged the Nigerian political system had become.
He said, “My brother, politics in Nigeria is all about money. 90% of the political parties are set up to make money. They don’t care about state of the country. That’s why APC sold form for 100m. When I ran for Governor in 2017 my party people nearly fought me cos I wasn’t sharing money.”
Several other celebrities, including KemiFilani, as well as some influential political figures also aired their views regarding the sudden results transition that felt like magic.
