The Super Eagles of Nigeria have completed the qualification phase for the 2022 African Cup of Nations with an unbeaten record after defeating the Crocodiles of Lesotho 3-0 on Tuesday.
Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen opened the scoring inside 23 minutes, as the Super Eagles marked their return to playing in Lagos with victory over the minnows from the South of the continent.
Midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo doubled the lead ten minutes before the hour mark via a Victor Osimhen assist, and the goal put the Eagles in cruise control early in the second half of the game.
Paul Onuachu came off the bench and got in on the action, sealing the three points from the match witnessed by a 30% capacity crowd inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
It was the Genk striker’s second goal in as many games, following his last-gasp winner against Benin Republic last Friday.
Victory over Lesotho ensured that the Super Eagles finished qualification for the continental showpiece unbeaten, leading Group L with 14 points after recording four wins and two draws.
For Lesotho, the defeat confirmed that they finished rock bottom of the group.
Cameroon will be hosting the 33rd edition of the tournament after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed it earlier due to the COVID-19 problems across the continent and the world.
