In a statement, Akintoye, who heads Ilana Oodua, said efforts are ongoing to prevent Igboho’s extradition into Nigeria; he described the Benin Republic as a country that respects the rules of law.

However, Akintoye called on all Yoruba sons and daughters home and abroad to come out and ensure that the southwest region is not defeated by those he tagged as invaders.

According to Mr Maxwell Adeleye, the Communications Manager to Professor Akintoye, there is a Strong Possibility that the Benin Republic might reject the extradition Request Of the Nigerian Government.

Maxwell confirmed that Professor Akintoye and some other Yoruba stakeholders had secured the services of a highly respected and trustworthy lawyer.
