Students Commence Emergency Prep as ASUU Strike Ends Conditionally

Share

Students from various schooling institutes have started emergency preparation to resume academic work as the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU Strike has been suspended with some conditions.

Many students active on the microblogging media platform took to their different Twitter handles to express excitement but also narrated the reality of their financial situation and how they would need money to cater for their schooling requirements.

Some tweeted about plans already made to leave the country for educational purposes in other functioning nations.

“My friend who is in the final year is supposed to travel to the U.K on Sunday. Now that ASUU has called off the strike, Should he stay back in Nigeria to complete his studies?”

There were several similar tweets about how impromptu calling off the strike was and the need to have given knowledge seekers room to get things in order before now.

However, the deal regarding ASUU demands is not completely fulfilled yet, as suspending the industrial action is simply conditional.

Earlier, an order from the Appeal Court had dictated that the union should only call off the strike while it continues discussions with the Federal Government.

It was the Appeal Court’s intervention that made the union’s national executives agree to meet and determine their next line of action.
