Norwich who are in the rock bottom place in the English Premier League stunned third place Leciester City last night in the Englsih Premier League Matchday 28. the Canaries did well to beat Brendan Rodgers men and this is like a hope for them to escape the relagetion zone. Norwich at least has now moved to within four points of an unlikely escape from the Premier League relegation zone.
Jamal Lewis whose only career goal for the club came in 2018 inan FA Cup game against Chelsea was in the score sheet just when they needed him. His fine strike gave Norwich a precious win against third place Leicester City.
The first half of the game ended in a stalemate as with the visiting having the most chances. Leicester City played without their key attacker Jamie Vardy who has scored 17 goals this season in the English Premier League. Daniel Farke’s side had not scored from an open play since the start of this year 2020, but they managed to hang on after Lewis smashed in goal to give them their fifth win this season.
The Canaries were in real danger of being going back to the Championship but this victory has given them an opporturnity rise again. they have ten more games to go and if they will be able to win all ten then surely they escape the relegation zone.
Leicester City suffered another VAR challaneg for the second time in a week in a row, the Foxes had a goal disallowed by the Video Assisant Referee VAR. Nigerian International Kelechi Iheanacho had his excellent 20-yarder goal ruled out by VAR for handball in the build up to the goal.
Brendan Rodgers marked one year with the club this week and then this unlucky result came in for him. His side have plenty of pressure in the absence of Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy, they have now gone five games without a win in all competitions.
Leicester City are eyeing the European place for years now since after they played the tournament far back 2017. They are still in the Champions League spot and they wont just give up yet.
Brendan Rodger Blames VAR for his lose
According the maneger Bredan Rodgers he said: ‘We can’t dance around the truth’ Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal should have been allowed.
“We are disappointed with our goal being ruled out,” “We felt it was very, very harsh. It was unintentional but it hits their player’s arm and drops on to Kelechi’s.”We have been inconsistent. We can’t dance around the truth, we need to be better but that is something I am confident we can do. “We need to get that focus back in our game.” Roders added
this win is a very important one for the One for Norwich, its their first win in 14 league games. This win had lifted them from the foot of the table if they had lost it would have left them on 18 points after 28 games. and only one team has ever escaped relegation in the position.
Only Portsmouth in 2006 had stayed up after being in such a predicament but now Norwich can focus on Watford and West Ham just a win ahead.
Norwich Manager on the win
“A win is always good for the mood and confidence but I am not over the moon,” Farke said. “It was important that we were on top of our game to get some points because we are the underdogs in this league. “There are more than 20 points, let us see how far we can go.
We will be brave and let’s see what the outcome can be.” “There are more than 20 points, let us see how far we can go. We will be brave and let’s see what the outcome can be.”
