Stay at home challenge is the new deal as the outbreak of Coronavirus, COVID-19 affects so many activities and authorities of some countries around the world announced that their citizens should stay at home as part of the preventive measures.

In adherence to the order, citizens of the concerned countries have been engaging themselves in some activities that could keep them busy while they stay at home.

Here in Nigeria, many Celebrities have joined one of the activities which they tag, the stay at home challenge.

The stay at home challenge is such that allows people to engage in exercise that could help them keep fit, one of the challenge involves players juggling toilet rolls instead of footballs in their houses, while the people are looking forward to when the virus will be conquered.

Nigerian celebrities are now part of the challenge though there is no stay at home order yet from the authorities.

As at the time of writing this piece, these are the Nigerian celebrities who have joined the stay at home challenge and uploaded the video of themselves on their various social media platforms.

Mayorkun

Mayorkun: The singer of GENG, one of the songs that is topping the musical chart in Nigeria, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has recorded and uploaded a video of himself partaking in the challenge, the self-acclaimed Mayor of Lagos uploaded the video on his social media platform and his followers have been reacting to his skills as displayed in the video.

Akpororo

Akpororo: Jephtha Bowoto, popularly known as Akpororo, is one of the Nigerian stand-up comedians who is doing well in the rib-cracking business, he has also recorded and uploaded himself partaking in the stay at home challenge.

In the meantime, Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo has highlighted the importance of adhering to the preventive measures that have been announced by medical experts.

In a post he said “I love you all, Stay home if going out isn’t a must and wash your hands regularly, stay sanitized at all times, Social distancing is a must”.

Ycee

Another Nigerian celebrity who joined the challenge is Oludemilade Martin known professionally as Ycee, the Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter who rose to limelight after his single “Condo”, which features vocals from Patoranking posted a video of himself partaking in the challenge,

Ahmed Musa

Also, Nigeria captain, Ahmed Musa and Lille’s Victor Osimhen, have joined their colleagues in taking the Stay at Home challenge as they observe self-isolation to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the International Labour Congress says almost 25 million jobs could be lost worldwide as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ILO Director-General, Mr. Guy Ryder who made this known in a statement in Abuja said the finding was according to a new assessment by the ILO.


According to him, “An initial assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on the global world of work says the effects will be far-reaching, pushing millions of people into unemployment, underemployment and working poverty, and proposes measures for a decisive, coordinated and immediate response.

“The economic and labour crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic could increase global unemployment by almost 25 million “However, if we see an internationally coordinated policy response, as happened in the global financial crisis of 2008 and 2009, then the impact on global unemployment could be significantly lower.”
