Speculations Emerge Over Buhari’s Medical Trip

Share

There are speculations over the number of days President Muhammadu Buhari would spend in London, the United Kingdom, where he went for a routine medical checkup.

A report by Saharareporters claimed that the Presidency is planning to extend President Buhari’s medical trip given the continued protests at the Nigerian Mission House in London.

Earlier, Femi Adesina, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, had said that the President would be back to Nigeria in the second week of April 2021.

However, EveryEvery.ng gathered that the planned return date might no longer be feasible because protesters’ presence at the Nigerian House in London had affected the President from being taken to the places he wants to go in the city.

There is the likelihood that the President might extend his stay in London.

President Buhari’s medical trips had attracted a lot of backlash on social media as the announcement came a few days before the National Association of Resident Doctors embarked on industrial action.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle,   has condemned what he described as President Buhari’s hatred.

While reacting to the protest staged by Nigerians in London, the Governor said the so-called protesters could not hide their hatred for the Northern region.

Governor Matawalle described the protesters’ actions as uncivilized, highly irresponsible, unpatriotic and disrespectful to the person and office of the President.

According to him, a genuine protest should address only issues without abusing the President or his family. He added that the protesters wouldn’t have done that for Buhari if he is from the South.

The Governor opined that Northern leaders must have the courage to speak out and protect the North’s interests to defend the region.
