Manchester United lost 3-2 on the night but progressed with a superior 8-5 aggregate score.

Solskjaer makes Manchester United history

The coach now holds the record of being the first person to reach a major European Cup final as both a Manchester United player and manager.

1999 Champions League final

Solskjaer was part of the legendary 1999 team that conquered the odds by defeating Juventus in the Champions League semifinals and coming from a goal down to beat Bayern Munich in the final to clinch a historic treble.

The Norwegian legend scored the late winner in that comeback victory and has his name etched in Manchester United folklore.

He will hope to grab his first piece of silverware as manager of the club when United face Villarreal in the Europa League final on Wednesday, the 26th of May.
