Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has terminated his contract with the North London club after him and the club management came to a mutual agreement to his contract.
Papastathopoulos contract is still remaining six months before it expires but the player was still in the club so they came to a unanimous agreement to terminate his contract earlier today.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta left the 32-year-old-defender out of his Premier League and Europa League squads for this season. The same time he did to Mesut Ozil who have bid the club goodbye preparing to join Fenerbahce.
The Greek international, whose deal was due to expire at the end of this season, joined Arsenal three years ago from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and he has made 69 appearances.
Arsenal technical director Edu said: “I would like to thank Papa for his contribution to the club.”
