Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo has arrived in Salerno for medical tests ahead of his move to newly-promoted Italian Serie A side Salernitana. Simy is ready to complete the move from Crotone, on loan with obligation to buy for a total of €6m including bonuses.
The negotiations between the player’s present club and the new place he wants to join had dragged on for some time but were finally concluded over the last 24 hours. Simy Nwankwo scored 20 goals in 38 Serie A appearances last season but could still prevent Crotone’s relegation to Serie B.
Salernitana will open their campaign in the Serie A away to Bologna on Sunday, the 22nd of August. Remember sometime back, the Nigeria Football Federation chairman said Super Eagles players should be mindful of the clubs they sign in to get a chance to play in the Super Eagles. Simy has taken that advice to get a shirt in the AFCON tournament, which comes up in January.
