Signs of INEC Frustrating Labour Party Revealed

Share

There are indications the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is deliberately frustrating Labour Party, LP, from gaining access to the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, to evaluate the records.

Speaking earlier, the Lead Counsel to LP, Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, said they’ve not received any electoral document from INEC that would enable the Lawyers on behalf of their clients to file a petition.

He made it clear the election petition is time sensitive and that it takes 21 days before a deadline takes effect. Uzoukwu noted that the LP team have about 10 days before the expiration date.

The Lead Counsel indicated that they are yet to receive any document from INEC that would help them proceed with the case.

If there are further delays in accessing the Electoral Document, according to Uzoukwu, it will be safe to say that the Commission is frustrating their efforts.

He stated that not accessing BVAS would result in a National calamity and would create an impression that their action is deliberate.
