Sheikh Gumi Makes Another Damning Comment

What Sheikh Ahmed Gumi perceives to be a competition between the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria is starting to send the very wrong signals across various parts of the nation, especially as all involved parties see terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and militancy as a milkable fat cow providing a steady income.

Just recently, the Islamic Cleric, who some mainstream media platforms have tagged ‘Senior Advocate for Bandits,’ made an elaborate negative impression with his comment on Facebook, saying, “Bandits Going Nowhere Till Nigerian Government Gives Them Amnesty Like Niger Delta Militants.”

The shocking statement from the cleric didn’t just end there as he went further to say that military action against criminal herdsmen and bandits will not solve the security challenge but “will only worsen the situation”.

He made the post themed ‘Zamfara: The Flaring of Crisis’ on Monday, 2021, where the Sheikh, a self-acclaimed intermediator between the Nigerian Government and the Armed Bandits/Kidnappers, partly encoded his message in Arabic, saying: ‎{…

The meaning of the above Arabic message in English is, “Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.”

Gumi Gives Brief Herder’s History, Recounts Encounters with Bandits

However, after series of controversial writings, a few parts of the cleric’s statement pointed to a history of cattle rearing and how rustling affecting the lucrative venture until it metamorphosed into banditry due to instigating activities of the accommodating states and regions where herders settled.

Within his written observation, Gumi hinted that he met many of the bandit leaders to see a way out of the present gridlock witnessed in Nigeria today.

“I have talked to the political class and security agents. Except for an exception, most State Governors want a peaceful resolution of the conflict.” He revealed.

Also, Gumi stressed that the Police and other Security Outfits have also realized the enormity of the problem. “But, unfortunately, the presidency, for what appears to be political gullibility and the military for budgetary reasons as they are the most beneficiary of conflicts of this nature, doesn’t seem to be on the same page.”
