Senator Elisha Abbo Dumps PDP for the APC.
The lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly, Senator Elisha Abbo has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
It was gathered that Abbo announced his defection in a letter addressed to the Senate. The letter was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan during Wednesday’s plenary session.
According to the letter, Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.
You will recall that the lawmaker was in the News last year after he assaulted a woman in a sex toy shop for disrespecting’ him.
Everyevery.ng reported that Abbo has appealed the judgment of a Federal High Court in Abuja which ordered him to pay 50 Million naira as compensation to the woman he assaulted in a sex toy store, Osimibibra Warmate.
Abbo, who noted that the 50 million naira fine is excessive stated that the facts of the case disclosed an alleged tort of simple assault and not torture or inhuman treatment.
However, he also anchored his appeal on three premises which are that the judge erred in law when he dismissed his preliminary objection to the effect that the suit was not recognisable under Section 34 of the 1999 Constitution.
Furthermore, Abbo stated that the facts of the case were contentious and that the trial judge erred when he held that the applicant had proved her case as required by law whereas the evidence was not in her favour.
