On Sunday, some gallant security operatives successfully stopped an attempted prison attack that would have led to severe damage in Jos, Plateau State.
The armed men who raided Jos Correctional Centre, JCC, were reportedly repelled by the men of the state security agencies who engaged them in a fierce gun battle to secure the premises.
Commending the exceptional act of the officers, Mr Rufus Bature, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Plateau State Chapter, said they were incredible to have pushed back the charging hoodlums from accessing the JCC premises.
He said the swift counterattack by men of the state security outfit and the collaborative effort deployed as a tactic is why they succeeded in averting the raid.
On Monday, Bature’s statement was contained in a release signed by Honourable Sylvanus Namang, the State Publicity Secretary of APC; the state needs more collaboration among the state’s uniform personnel at a period where insecurity is the topic of the day.
The statement read in parts, “The daredevil attackers, who the party is informed, some are still trapped inside the custodial centre, should when arrested, not be treated with kid gloves but must be made to pay dearly for their action as a deterrent to such criminals in our midst.” He said.
