The Federal Government school feeding program will continue despite the closure of schools due to the lockdown order issued across Nigeria as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to bite harder.
According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development t, it would restart the school feeding program in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, on Thursday 14 May 2020.
The Deputy Director of the Ministry, Rhoda Iliya, while explaining the modalities of the program in a statement said 3,131,971 households that have children currently in primary 1-3 would benefit by receiving food items worth #4,200.
She explained further that the food items to be shared for the school feeding program would include 5kg bag of rice, 5kg bag of beans, 500ml vegetable oil, 750ml of palm oil, 500mg of salt, 15pieces of eggs and 140gm of tomato past as assessed and approved by nutrition experts for nutritious meals for children.
The ministry, however, stated that Abuja residents are not the only set of Nigerians to benefit from this intervention as those from Lagos and Ogun states would be joining the league shortly after the program kicks off tomorrow.
The statement added that the ministry’s hotlines would be made active for proposed beneficiaries to report their grievances.
