Sanwo-Olu Says No ‘Fatalities’ During Lekki Shooting, Orders Lowering Of Flags

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has denied the news making the rounds, particularly on the social media space as regards the reported killings at Lekki toll gate. During a live broadcast on the EndSARS protest in the state, Sanwo-Olu noted that he has gone round some hospitals and Mortuary in the state and there was no record of anyone killed during the shooting at Lekki Tollgate.

According to him, there are 10 patients at the General Hospital, 11 at Reddington Hospital and 4 at Vedic with mild to moderate levels of injuries while 2 are receiving intensive medical care. He added that 3 patients have been discharged while three or more patients are to be discharged on Wednesday.

He further directed the immediate suspension of State activities as a sign of solidarity for the protests. The governor, however, stated that the flags in the state should be lower for three days for people to mourn those who have lost their lives in the course of the EndSARS protests in Lagos state.

He also appealed to the EndSARS protesters to give room for peace and orderliness as he also urged parents and guardians to talk to their children and wards on the need to give room for peace.

Earlier, the Nigerian Army has distanced itself from the allegations that the military was involved in the shooting and killing of protesters at the Lekki Tollgate as it tagged the reports as fake and malicious.
