Rowdy Session In LASU As ASUU, NASU Locks VC Out

Share

The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University, LASU, Professor Olanrewaju Fagboun was on Monday denied entrance into the institution.

It was gathered that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU barred Professor Fagboun and students from gaining access to the University’s premises.

ASUU and NASU members reportedly took over the entrance of the university from security personnel and turned back both human and vehicular movements from going in and out of the premises.

The action followed the protest embarked upon by the union members over non-payment of increment in salaries as promised by the Lagos State Government after a year when the promise was made.

However, the VC’s efforts to prevail on the protesters fell on deaf ears.

You will recall that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier ordered students in 300 and 400 levels with other members of staff that had been on lockdown as a result of COVID-19 pandemic to resume.
